SAVANT establishes awareness of South Africa's ICT and electronic sector

9 February 2005 News

South Africa's business environment boasts a plethora of qualities that makes it a significant force in the international ICT and electronics (ICTE) arena. While South Africa remains part of the ICTE mainstream, applying the world's best technology and keeping pace with progress in the industry, the country simultaneously adapts and applies these technologies to the local market. When necessary resources are unavailable, South Africans typically create their own, giving the local industry the capacity to handle complex projects and outsource internally.

The goal of SAVANT is to establish an awareness campaign for the ICT and electronics sector by marketing the industry locally and internationally. The initiative also aims to strengthen the South African ICTE sector in order to add dimension to its global competitiveness.

SAVANT has posted some recent research reports on the local ICTE sector on its website that can be downloaded from the Research Bank at www.savant.co.za:

* Description of the SA electrotechnical industry.

* Overview of the capabilities of the SA electrotechnical industry.

* A research study into the South African software market.

* Research study into the contract manufacturing sub-sector of the electrotechnical industry in South Africa.

* Research report in the power sub-sector of the electrotechnical sector.
