5 October 2005 News

MB Silicon Systems has concluded a distribution agreement with Power Integrations, a supplier of high-voltage analog integrated circuits for power conversion. Effective 1 October 2005, the agreement incorporates Power Integrations' whole product line, which consists of the LinkSwitch, DPA-Switch, TinySwitch and TOPSwitch IC families, supported by free design software and extensive design collateral.

Says sales director, Mark Rowland: "The addition of Power Integrations to our product offering has been one of our strategic growth objectives. We are very optimistic about this opportunity, which expands our offering of innovative semiconductor products to the South African market."

Comments Kobus Botes, technical director: "Power Integrations is a leading international brand with an excellent local reputation. Its products are a perfect fit for our demand creation strategy with our focus on carefully selected specialist, but complementing products. I am excited about Power Integrations semiconductors and design software that will enable us to provide solutions to the industry for compact, lightweight electronic power supplies."

Power Integrations' (www.powerint.com) breakthrough integrated-circuit technology enables compact, energy-efficient power supplies in a wide range of electronic products, in both AC-DC and DC-DC applications. According to the company, its EcoSmart energy-efficiency technology has saved consumers and businesses around the world more than an estimated $1 bn on their electricity bills since its introduction in 1998.
