Wavecom has a highly successful 3GSM in Barcelona

21 March 2007 News

Wavecom reported that it had an excellent show at 3GSM Congress this year with a busy booth from dawn until dusk. The main attraction was the latest product announcement from Wavecom: the world’s first RDMS (remote device management services) for embedded industrial cellular products.

A full end-to-end RDMS solution was demonstrated on a live GPRS network with a typical scenario that showed how a service provider could upgrade in an easy, secure and cost-effective manner, its embedded Open AT application to provide new value-added services to its customers without unnecessary recalls. The example shown, relying on Wavecom's back-end infrastructure, demonstrated a live 'delta software' upgrade to a vehicle that provided the driver with an emergency assistance service on a free 'try-before-you-buy' basis. The delta software was received OTA (over-the air) and installed on-the-fly by Wavecom RDM agents to create the new version that offered the new service. The software sent OTA contains only the parts that have changed, which reduces the size of the downloaded software and airtime costs by up to 95%. For more see www.wavecom.com/RDMS.

Also receiving high acclaim was the 'Wheel II' demonstrator, the intention being to trigger the imagination of today's creative developers and give an insight as to what can be achieved by embedding an Open AT application at the heart of industrial cellular products. The Wheel II was appreciated by all visitors to the booth who wanted to learn more about the innovative Wireless CPU plus Open AT Software Suite products that Wavecom is delivering today.

Away from the Wavecom booth, Wavecom's partner for GPS location solutions, eRide, also enjoyed a high volume of traffic and the partnership saw exchange of business discussions on both sides of the exhibition floor.
