Intercal and Inforcomm have announced that their joint venture has won one of the largest maintenance and calibration contracts in the electronic test and measurement (T&M) industry from ARMSCO (Armaments Corporation of South Africa) for a period of three years.
The awarding of the contract to the Intercal-Inforcomm Joint Venture demonstrates how a successful partnership could be established which will result in the BEE partner - Inforcomm - being able to build a track record, capacity and references for future opportunities.
"We chose Inforcomm mainly because they have experience and knowledge of the industry, they understand the contractual obligations and share the same vision to ensure better turnaround time, quality workmanship and good reporting structure to ARMSCO," said Paul Haarhoff from Intercal.
Inforcomm is led by Andile Tlhoaele, once a repair and calibration technician who, after a successful stint with major international manufacturers of T&M equipment, now heads Inforcomm, a company he founded in 2005. He is also a member of the ICT Charter Steering Committee, board member of the ISETT-SETA and the Association of BEE Verification Agencies.
"To think of it, just 10 years ago I was working as a technician on the same contract, not knowing that one day it would be awarded to my company; it is something I am grateful to be part of," said Tlhoaele.
InterCal is an independent calibration service company. InterCal maintains calibration laboratories accredited by SANAS in the fields of radio frequency, AC/DC electrical, time and frequency, temperature, pressure and mass metrology.
