Edwin, together with the Electrocomp Group, is committed to continue to provide strong leadership and direct the company with the same innovation, flexibility and customer service that has made Vepac one of the leading players in the local electronics industry for the past 21 years. The change in ownership creates many opportunities for Vepac and its employees and with the assistance of the Electrocomp Group, it intends to aggressively grow existing business while expanding into new markets.
Electrocomp is committed to supporting Vepac's growth initiatives, increase the scope of current product portfolio and ensure that complementary products are successfully introduced in line with expansion plans. The company is determined to continue to work closely with its valued customers and suppliers to provide leading edge products, systems and support.
Vepac Electronics was formed in July 1987 and took over the business interests of BICC Vero Electronics, a United Kingdom group company, which had been operating in South Africa since 1976. Vepac has grown to be a leading supplier of international components and systems to the South African electronics, electrical and communications industries.
In June 1998 Vepac Electronics acquired Electrowatt, a company supplying the South African market with a range of SMT production equipment and consumables.
Electrocomp is a dynamic technology-driven South African group of distribution companies focusing its activities on semiconductor and IPE product sales and support, with strong engineering value-add capabilities to over 1500 customers. The group has offices countrywide.
Edwin Brown has many years' experience in the local electronics industry, 24 years of which he occupied various senior positions within Siemens in South Africa. This included the responsibility of the various component companies as well as establishing the wireless modules business division over the last six years.
