RS Components recently launched its RS Mobile service, designed specifically for mobile phones and enabling customers to find and order products quickly and easily.
RS Mobile gives customers on-the-go access to the full RS product range. Because an increasing number of customers are constantly on the move, and have limited access to a PC or catalogue, they are now able to search for the product they need without leaving their worksite. Whether they know the part number or not, they can search or browse to see if the right product is available.
Customers have access to product specifications, their account information and pricing. They can then place their orders via the mobile site directly or the website itself can dial the RS order line.
In order to access the service, customers will need a mobile device that has Internet browser software and some form of Internet connection, either through a Wi-Fi hotspot or through a mobile telephone network. Ideally a customer would need a 2,5G (GPRS) or 3G phone connection to get the best performance from the website.
