Otto Wireless punts technical seminars

19 January 2011 News

Through the first two weeks of November, Otto Wireless Solutions hosted three technical seminars in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. They were attended by Yun Wang, the R&D director for SIMCom’s short-range product portfolio. The seminars were kicked off and MC’d by Otto Wireless’ marketing manager, Christopher Viveiros, who introduced SIMCom and briefly outlined the entire product range, including roadmaps for the recently launched SIM900 companion GPS products.

Otto plans to repeat the event on an annual basis, and for those wanting to know what to expect, November’s seminar showcased SIMCom’s short-range RF range in detail, showing what is over the horizon in terms of self healing and self addressing 434 MHz products, 434 MHz GSM gateways, Ethernet router gateways, and also the slightly further off Zigbee range. The last hour of the show saw Otto Wireless technical frontman, JD Visagie, demonstrate to the audiences all the popular features of the entire range of products, including streaming video through the 3G modules, taking and compressing snapshots, and e-mailing the files from a directly coupled Micro-SD card.
