Webb Industries' protection offering expands

2 February 2011 News

With the consolidation of five companies – Polyphaser, Transtector, Dowin, LEA International and RO Associates – into the world’s leading lightning and surge protection organisation, Protection Technology Group (PTG), local distributor, Webb Industries, has significantly increased its protection offering to its customers.

“We have successfully represented Polyphaser for more than 25 years in South Africa and now with PTG a basket of new products has been added, enabling us to offer complete protection and grounding solutions across a wide range of applications,” says Webb MD Paul Richards. He adds that PTG is the only company in the world that offers all known protection technologies for any electronic connection to copper. This includes RF, AC, DC and data.

Scott Wennick, PTG’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales director, says that Webb is the largest distributor in the EMEA region of PTG products. “This is not surprising as Webb is one of the most value-adding distributors that PTG has worldwide. They are the only distributor we have that has a team dedicated solely to providing protection solutions and this is paying significant dividends.”

Since Webb is not simply a supplier of off-the-shelf products, it employs focused specialists whose in-depth knowledge enables them to provide customised solutions. The company, which was established in 1973, is one of the largest suppliers of ancillary telecommunications equipment to the sub-Saharan region. Apart from surge and lightning protection and earthing solutions, the company offers a comprehensive range of antennas, coaxial cable and connectors, duplexers and filters and masts and towers.
