Technews visits Diepsloot

22 August 2012 News

On the 18th of July, staff from Technews paid a visit to Diepsloot north of Johannesburg to contribute to South Africa’s 67 Minutes campaign.

The first stop was at the Vuka Uzenzele senior centre, where seniors were served with tea, coffee, juice and eats, as well as vegetables for making soup. Volunteers were rewarded with some roof-raising singing and dancing in honour of Mandela. This was followed by a visit to a local crèche where the children were given hot dogs and sweets. Vivienne Dorrington, CEO of Technews said, “It was a joy to watch how our staff all ‘mucked’ in to make a difference in the lives of others.

“Nelson Mandela is a remarkable man who asked that the 18 July should not be a holiday but a day dedicated to improving conditions within our own communities – he gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity.”
