Agilent Technologies has extended the repair warranty on all new electronic test instruments from one year to three years. The company says the increase is the result of ongoing quality initiatives that, from 2002 to 2012, yielded unprecedented improvements in product reliability and earned top marks in an independent customer survey rating RF and microwave product quality. According to the company, a typical Agilent instrument is in service for eight years and sometimes much longer, depending on the industry and application.
Agilent also offers ‘assurance plans’ for repair and calibration services; when included with a new instrument, these plans are available at a lower cost than when purchased later. Beyond the extended warranty coverage, these enhanced plans offer additional benefits such as calibration after repair, priority service, six-month warranty extension if a repair is needed, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical overload stress (EOS) coverage.
