Pluggable protective switch for terminal blocks

9 April 2003 Circuit & System Protection Security Services & Risk Management

The TCP thermal cut-out protector from Phoenix Contact combines the protective mechanism of a safety fuse with the advantages of an automatic cut-out, providing effective overload protection to electrical installations and devices. An integrated switching function allows tripped cut-outs to be immediately switched back on, as well as enabling use as an on/off switch. Identically rated currents and voltages mean the safety cut-out can simply replace wire fuses.

The modular base terminal and the pluggable safety cut-out make it possible to implement a multitude of power distribution tasks. A variable-length screw bridge can distribute the input voltage to a maximum of 10 cut-outs. An optionally available display lamp for optically signalling a tripped safety cut-out adds the finishing touch to the system. In addition, at just 8 mm wide, the units enable space-saving applications.
