Locally-manufactured PC-based logic analyser

7 May 2003 Test & Measurement

The Lu-La-Usb is a 200 MHz, 16 channel, PC-based logic analyser that plugs into the PC USB port and is suited for carrying around, moving from PC to PC/notebook.

Avaialble from Jobmatch Systems, this small, yet sophisticated, logic analyser is capable of capturing data at 200 MHz on its 16 channels simultaneously. With advanced triggering options easy to use, other hardware features include: 1 MB samples/channel buffer with variable pre-/post-trigger buffer settings; variable input threshold; digital data logging; external clock input; extended capture time function.

When developing or debugging a PC card or other Unit Under Test (UUT) that is controlled by a PC, the Lu-La-Usb and UUT software can be run in separate windows.

The comprehensive software provides an easily manageable environment for the wide spectrum of features. Setting a trigger condition, capturing data and navigating through the data is straightforward. The data may be viewed, saved and printed in different useful formats, such as bitmaps, texts, and binary. The current set-up may be saved with the data, so that one can simply reload a signal file to continue exactly where one last left off. The software runs under Windows 98/2000/XP.

Flexible trigger options

A trigger may be set to occur on a rising edge, falling edge, or change of state on any channel. It may also be set for a level (pattern) condition by specifying a '1', '0' or 'X' (do not care) condition on all channels. Combinations such as edge/pattern or/and/then pattern/edge, pattern duration/glitch capture, etc, may be set. During unconditionally continuous capture, the screen updates at regular intervals. Continuous capture may be combined with a trigger condition to update only when the condition is met. This is very useful for viewing continuously changing data, which cannot be viewed with simple regular screen updates: eg, data on a serial line.
