As simple as 1-2-3 but new meter is faster

7 May 2003 Test & Measurement

Spescom MeasureGraph has announced the introduction of a bigger brother for the Fluke 123 Industrial ScopeMeter. The new Fluke 124 is based on the Fluke 123, but offers 40 MHz bandwidth and has scope cursors.

In today's complex systems, it is often the case that a meter measurement does not give enough detail to determine the cause of a fault. Signal anomalies, dropouts and glitches that might cause a machine to go down, are best displayed with an oscilloscope. The Fluke ScopeMeter 124 simultaneously measures and checks waveforms. These measurements cover high frequency waveform, meter, capacitance and resistance measurements, as well as continuity checks. Unlike conventional oscilloscopes that can only make measurements referenced to power line ground, the Fluke 124 makes floating measurements thereby ensuring that there is no risk of an accidental ground short circuit when making a connection. The 124 also features time-saving 'Connect-and-View' triggering that automatically displays stable waveforms of virtually any signal.

Shielded test leads are safety certified for measurements on 600 V CAT III industrial power systems. Via the optically isolated RS232 interface, the 124 can be safely connected to a printer for direct print-out or to a PC for later analysis and documentation using FlukeView software. A new NiMH battery increases field operation to seven hours on a single charge.

New features for the Fluke 124 Industrial ScopeMeter include:

* 40 MHz bandwidth.

* Scope cursors.

* Up to seven hours' battery operation time.

* 20 memories.

* VPS40 10:1 voltage probe.

Included accessories for the Fluke 124 are: a rechargeable NIMH Battery Pack (BP130) for seven hours continuous operation; line voltage adapter/battery charger (BC190); one 10:1 voltage probe sets (VPS40).

Two new optional accessories are available, the VPS 40, 40MHz 10:1 voltage probe and the BP130 NiMH battery pack for the Fluke 120 series. The VPS 40 is compatible with the Fluke 123, while the BP130 is compatible with Fluke 123s that have firmware Version 2.
