Gas discharge tubes provide high level of protection

Circuit & System Protection
The PBAX and CXP protectors from Citel use a gas discharge tube to protect electronic and electrical equipment from lightning surges.
The gas discharge tube is placed in parallel on the line. It is an insulator in normal operating conditions, but when its sparkover voltage is reached because of a transient overvoltage, the line will be briefly practically shorted (arc discharge). When the overvoltage disappears, the gas discharge tube returns to its original condition of insulator and is ready to function again.
The PBAX and CXP protectors provide a high level protection against lightning surges and can tolerate multiple strikes. They are broadly used to protect a variety of coaxial transmission systems against transient overvoltages of all origins. The gas discharge tube is removable, making maintenance rapid in case of its end-of-life (destructive short-circuit).
Applicable to various coaxial applications, the available connectors are: 7/16, N, BNC, TNC, F (bulkhead version available in all types of connectors).
