By definition, a microswitch is a 'snap action' switch with an operating mechanism offering one stable position. The new MP42 from Microprecision Electronics still has a snap action to operate the switching mechanism but offers two stable positions. It could therefore be compared to the 'flip-flop' function.
The switch is operated with its pin on the upper side of the housing. A release pin is placed on the opposite side of the switch. For both pins a large variety of actuators may be added.
Its housing conforms to DIN 41635-E and its switching contacts are set up as a changeover circuit with a rating of 400 V a.c., 10 A, under SEV. The PA6T thermoplastic housing supports an operating range of -40 up to +130°C in standard version and may go up to +200°C.
It may be used in various applications, as: a memorising flip-flop switch; overload flag for pressure or temperature; security flag with memory function and manual re-arming; stable switching ability without maintaining the actuator force. Various terminal and operating parameter options are available.
