Wider range of telecoms cables now available locally

4 June 2003 News

Webb Industries has expanded its range of telecommunications equipment following its recent appointment to market a range of cables manufactured in the USA by Micro-Coax. This company has led the industry in the provision of transmission line technology for 40 years and its products are found in systems ranging from missile guidance to cellular phones.

With an ongoing programme of research and development, Webb Industries says that Micro-Coax develops innovative transmission line solutions that can meet the demanding requirements of its customers throughout the country.

According to Webb Industries' Fanie Viljoen, the acquisition of the Micro-Coax range is a major boost to Webb's product line-up and will provide South African customers with the latest US technology that will complement its own manufacturing skills. "We will market the Micro-Coax semi-rigid cables to the telecommunications and military equipment markets," said Viljoen. "One of the leading products which we will offer is the UTIFORM tin-dipped hand-formable microwave cable which is also used in the production of antennas."

Viljoen said the company will also focus on Micro-Coax's flexible microwave cable assemblies, UTIFLEX, which range from DC through to 50 Ghz.

From its Sandton factory and premises, Webb Industries manufactures a leading-edge range of telecommunications equipment for both the local and European markets and also imports high-tech products for the local market.
