Test plug to fulfill Category 6 open cabling system requirements

Fluke Networks has unveiled its new DSP-PM06 Personality Module, claimed to be the industry's first test plug to ensure Cat 6 interoperability in addition to compliance. The 'centre plug' design removes the variability found in vendor-specific patch cords and test plugs, allowing installers to accurately certify an'open' cabling system.

The PM06 module is used with the company's DSP-4300 and OMNIScanner2 cable analysers and has gained industry approval from over 20 leading connectivity vendors around the world, says the company.

"While there are many challenges in specifying a Category 6 cabling system, perhaps the most difficult is certifying the interoperability between Category 6 components from different manufacturers," said Jeff Lime, business unit manager for Infrastructure SuperVision Solutions at Fluke Networks.

"PM06 is the first and only centred, shielded test plug giving users a higher degree of confidence when it comes to Cat 6 compliance and interoperability testing."
