LEM has released a comprehensive range of current-operated switches. The DIN-rail mounted units are self-powered and operate on AC systems, with a frequency range from 6 to 100 Hz.
The AKS series current-operated switches have a user-selectable set-point from 1 to 175 A. The switches are equipped with a solid-state output in normally-open or normally-closed configurations.
The illustration shows a solid core unit (on left), with a 14 mm circular aperture for the current carrying conductor to pass. The split core model (on right), has a 21,7 x 21,7 mm rectangular aperture facilitating installation on existing systems without the need for disconnection or cutting the primary conductor.
Examples of applications are: pumps/fans - electronic proof of flow (no need for pipe or duct penetrations); conveyors - detects jams and overloads; lighting circuits - easier to install and more accurate than photocells; electric heaters - faster response than temperature sensors.
