Fast processor for gateways and wireless access points

IDT's new RC32336 Interprise integrated communications processor is claimed to deliver performance up to 180 MHz. Intended for designers of wireless gateway, wireless access point equipment, SOHO gateways and routers, and managed Layer-2 Ethernet switches, it allows for connectivity to a wide range of networking devices including WLAN chipsets. With a 32-bit MIPS CPU core that is compatible with a range of realtime operating systems, it has two Ethernet MACs with industry standard media independent interfaces. The RC32336 processor also integrates a 16-bit PCMCIA Version 2.1 interface and a 32-bit Version 2.2 PCI controller, as well as an SDRAM memory controller that interfaces to a full range of industry-standard memory products.
