Avnet Kopp acquires business interests of Analog Data Products (ADP)

News
Avnet Kopp has acquired the business operations of Analog Data Products (ADP), an independent distributor that is owned by South African IT Group, TM Holdings, associated with MB Technologies.
Albert Kopp, CEO of Avnet Kopp says that ADP was the largest distributor for Analog Devices in South Africa and as Avnet Kopp recently obtained the Analog Devices franchise, it made sense to rationalise the market and avoid destructive competition in a relatively small market. In addition to Analog Devices, it also obtained two other lines; Crystal Clear Technologies, a Singapore manufacturer of LCD and Rabbit Semiconductor, a niche manufacturer of 8 bit micros and modules incorporating systems connectivity.
Coming with ADP, is a team of three people, led by Stephen Silberman, who ran these lines for ADP, and they will form the core for Avnet Kopp's analog components business.
Albert Kopp, CEO Avnet Kopp; Joy Krige, Financial Director of TM Holdings; Stephen Silberman, General Manager of ADP; Hannes Taute, Director – Semiconductors at Avnet Kopp
"Avnet Kopp has a number of analog lines, namely Texas Instruments, ST MicroElectronics, Philips, Microchip and ON Semi, and the team should be a powerful presence in the South African market, growing our overall analog market share," said Albert Kopp. "Stephen will be able to use the Avnet Kopp sales and FAE teams in Johannesburg, as well as in our sales offices in Durban and Cape Town, giving the Analog Devices line more exposure than it previously enjoyed."
Silberman's team of Craig Gibbs and Stella Homan will be joined by Avnet Kopp's analog FAE, Erich Nast.
"ADP was an efficient focused niche distributor, and it is our intention to leave them as a separate division operating within Avnet Kopp," concludes Kopp.
