International Rectifier has introduced a new chip set for the analog stage of its iMOTION integrated design platform for motion control. The chip set consists of the new IR2175 linear current-sensing IC and the existing IR2136 three-phase inverter-driver IC. The IR2175 provides current feedback information and features a fast frequency output (FO = 130 kHz) for higher bandwidth and faster acceleration. This is required for demanding servo motor applications such as high speed printing, packaging and machine tools, as well as automation, including robotics and positioning stages.
The analog stage chip set is the 'bridge' between the IRMC0201 and IRMCO203 digital control engine and the power stage in the iMOTION integrated design platform. The new IR2175 is designed for 230 V three-phase AC or brushless DC industrial drive applications. In addition, the IR2175 features built-in current sensing and protection circuits. Motor drive circuits using the IR2175 eliminate external opto- or Hall-effect sensors, which reduces circuit size, simplifies design and increases reliability.
