Synplicity FPGA synthesis solutions offer full support for Xilinx ISE
8 October 2003
Design Automation
Synplicity's FPGA logic synthesis and physical synthesis products now provide full support for the recently announced Xilinx Integrated Software Environment 6.1i (ISE). This means that Synplicity's Synplify and Synplify Pro FPGA synthesis software can work directly with Xilinx's ISE 6.1i software, providing designers with a completely integrated 'plug-and-play' environment for achieving maximum design performance and efficient area utilisation. Designers who use the Synplify logic synthesis and Amplify FPGA physical synthesis products together with ISE 6.1i will have access to a complete FPGA design solution for their high-speed designs.
According to Synplicity, the advanced optimisation technology of these products, coupled with the virtual speed grade reduction in ISE 6.1i, provides the ultimate solution for meeting aggressive timing goals using the most cost-effective FPGA devices. Designers using this solution are afforded substantial area savings while still meeting specified performance requirements. Synplicity's FPGA synthesis and physical synthesis software focus on the true critical paths in designs, optimising them for speed, while non-critical paths are simultaneously optimised for area.
"Synplicity and Xilinx understand the challenges associated with complex design and are working together to deliver highly optimised solutions for our mutual customers," said Jeff Garrison, director of FPGA products at Synplicity. "Leading edge devices like Spartan-3 and Virtex-II Pro from Xilinx have opened up significant new opportunities in electronic applications for programmable logic. These applications require advanced design software like Synplify Pro, Amplify and ISE 6.1i to get the most out of the silicon. We believe our customers will experience a substantial increase in performance and logic utilisation when using this combined software solution."
