Allegro MicroSystems' UDN2987A and UDN2987LW are 8-channel source driver ICs designed to act as an interface between standard low-level logic and power devices such as relays, motors, solenoids, LEDs, and incandescent lamps. Featuring overcurrent protection on each of the eight sourcing outputs, they include thermal shutdown and output transient protection/clamp diodes for use with sustaining voltages of up to 35 V. In these drivers, each channel includes a latch to turn off that channel if the maximum channel current is exceeded. A common fault output is used to indicate either chip thermal shutdown or any overcurrent condition. All outputs are enabled/inhibited by pulling the common OE/R input high/low. Each of the eight outputs source in excess of 100 mA continuously at an ambient of 25°C and supply of 35 V. The overcurrent circuit can protect from shorts to ground with supply of up to 35 V. The inputs are compatible with 5 and 12 V logic systems including TTL, Schottky TTL, DTL, PMOS, and CMOS.
