Seen at ADEC 2003 - exhibitor feedback

22 October 2003 Events

"I believe that ADEC 2003 was a complete success - it was well worth exhibiting and I would certainly consider exhibiting again in 2005. I believe that what made ADEC 2003 so successful was that the venue matched the exhibition and the exhibitors made a great effort in terms of renewing their stands."

"We felt very happy with the venue, as it is central to most of Gauteng customers. Facilities are good, however, there was not sufficient fresh air in the hall. The quality of customers was good albeit that most attended on the Wednesday. We received a number of leads with high potential that we are very excited about. We would be very interested in participating in the next ADEC exhibition."

"We found the venue to be in a good position/place and it was easily accessible. The influx of people was good as we had a lot of enquiries/possible sales leads. Exhibitor enthusiasm - some mentioned that the venue was 10 times better this year. We also asked some of our clients what they thought of the show, they said it was good, and the quality of the show was great overall. They also mentioned that it was a lot smaller. Just one 'negative' comment - the show's marketing/advertising. We found many of our customers did not know about the show, until we gave them tickets. But we will definitely partake in the next ADEC show."

"As ADEC 2003 was our first exhibition we do not really have any previous ADEC experience, except for being a visitor, to compare it with. Our company has grown drastically in recent years and we believe ADEC was a big success in showing our presence to our existing customers and making many new business contacts. The quality of the visitors was also very good. We believe that it was a success and we shall be back in two years time."

"The location was satisfactory, and about 50% of visitors were enthusiastic. Some of us exhibitors on the lower level were unhappy due to the small guiding marks to this level - I do not think all visitors used the lower exit."

"Although still too early to determine if being at ADEC 2003 was worthwhile, we did meet many new people. However, the chance of business from these encounters remains to be seen. In terms of the venue, were quite satisfied. No parking problems, and we had an ideal position for our stand. We spoke to many people - some most enthusiastic and others not interested at all. Currently, we feel that we will exhibit again in two years time, but one does not know what the future holds. We feel strongly that the ADEC Expo should team with some other high profile show such as computing or some other electronic application show.

What about combining it with some kind of high tech seminar or conference?"

"As I approached the venue I thought...oh no, not the same as before and so down market! ... But I was wrong - once inside it was warm and cosy, like a good restaurant - it had atmosphere - Gallagher was too big. Also the maze idea was good, and visitors had no choice but to pass each stand. Quality of visitors was excellent, less than before, but totally focused. A point for next time, many people thought that the signs were too small and too few inside the race track area!"

"The way one had to walk past every stand was a better idea. I think that Gallagher, although 'expensive', portrays a better image of the industry. The quality of the visitors is always difficult to tell, the impression one normally gets is that if you are very busy then it is worthwhile. In reality, does interest shown interpret into business after the show? Generally, maybe 10% come back for more info. Although it was marketed well enough in the local publications, not everyone gets these. The lighting inside the hall was very bad."

"We found the show busier than the last ADEC show and everything was better - visitors, quality of visitor, enquiries, etc. Quality of a visitor is relative to the business actually generated...quality can only be judged later. The relatively central Kyalami venue is liked and we had good reports from customers about the venue. ADEC can always be better advertised - it depends on the budget. We will attend ADEC 2005."

"The show was really worthwhile for us. It was the best thing I have done this year to create new business."

"The new location and venue for ADEC this year? Great!!! Works well. We like the layout since it forces people to walk through the whole show. Everyone was really excited to be at ADEC. Quality of visitors was great! No problem with marketing the show. And we have a number of new leads. Well worth our time and effort and we will be back. Constructive suggestions: the cafe could do with more trained staff; and we need more trollies during setting up."

"Location not as good as Gallagher. Statement that potential customers would have to pass through the entire exhibition to exit - not so. Many customers advised they had no idea the lower floor existed and so missed us entirely. Quality of visitors difficult to judge right now. Clearly pressure of work prevented many of our customers from attending."

"The exhibition was a great success for us with many useful enquiries and new contacts established. The location and venue is good and having the PMRA exhibition running next door is the way forward and makes economic sense, as far as exhibitions in the electronics market are concerned. There was a good 'vibe' and visitors were generally very positive and pleased with the expo and the standard of the exhibits in particular. Only gripe regards the Wednesday 'late night', as by 18:30 most exhibitors were in 'party mood' and it was very difficult to discuss business. We need to support the late night, and work to 8 pm. At this stage we would be keen to exhibit in 2005."

"We were very pleased with the ADEC show in general. The venue is far better suited. I think the general vibe amongst distributors was a lot more positive than at the previous show. We will definitely exhibit at the next. For us, customer participation was excellent, most of our major customers visited the show, and in general the quality of visitors was good. As for the market, there is a lot of design and development going on that should turn into production in the not too distant future."

"The venue was very accessible and the show well organised. The whole set-up was much friendlier and the visitors seemed to be specific and knew what they wanted."

"To my surprise the ADEC 2003 exhibition was extremely well attended and the quality of visitors was by and large excellent. We took more inquiries home than from any other exhibition of the past. The venue is good as the layout prompted all visitors to see all stands. All distances to walk were short, including from the parking area - that was visitor and exhibitor friendly. We have already booked for 2005."

"The show was very good, much better than other shows, good leads, and we will definitely attend in two years' time."

"We found this year's show to be the best that we have exhibited at. Some reasons: location was ideal and parking for both exhibitors and visitors was close and plentiful; floor plan ensured that visitors went all through the show; a good buzz from the exhibitors. At the next show, we will be there."

"Exceeded expectations. Our team is frantically following up with contacts made at the show. Our eye-catching stand design and proactive manning ensured that we were very happy with the exposure received. We set measurable goals in terms of exposure and establishing industry contacts and these were all exceeded! We were delighted with the quality and quantity of the visitors and we hope to translate this into direct business shortly - definitely be back in two years time!"
