ON Semiconductor has introduced four new offline power supply switching regulators - each with an integrated 700 V power switch and a unique set of performance features that offer designers a complete control solution for rugged power supplies consumer products.
The NCP1012 and NCP1013 devices are monolithic, switching regulators for low standby-power offline switch mode power supplies (SMPS). With programmed current limits of 250 and 350 mA respectively, they enable designers to select from several preset limits to meet their applications' needs. Both devices are available with fixed switching frequencies of 100 or 133 kHz. To improve overall power supply reliability, they feature a true soft-start capability that prevents power component damage from excess heating and overstress at power-up.
ON Semiconductor's patented dynamic self-supply (DSS) function eliminates the need for a transformer auxiliary winding by allowing the IC to bias itself directly from a high-voltage input rail. The skip-cycle operation of these devices is designed to eliminate the audible noise common in many competitive products.
