With ever increasing miniaturisation and higher packaging densities in highly integrated circuits there is in many cases a need for more contact interfaces.
This development is being met by high-density multipin connectors. Efficient wiring techniques such as solderless press-fit permit the user to fit these connectors in the new assemblies.
Wiring accessories available comprise the KSG173 Erni interface connector system. This means that mating interfaces are possible both on the front panel and on the wiring side between the internal and external wiring. To prevent the plug-in cards being cross-plugged there is the option of coding the connectors using coding strips, or coding keys. Various termination techniques are available - Ernipress, Wirewrap, Solder, and Interface.
Pre-centring: For applications of connectors with early make last break contacts the male connector moulding with pre-centring ensures even more reliable mating. The mouldings of the female connectors have a recess at an appropriate point. The dimensions of these versions do not conform to the specifications of DIN 41612. Male connectors with pre-centring do not fit female connectors without a pre-centring recess.
Fastening clip: For efficient mounting of the angled connectors Erni offers a mounting clip, fitted to the connector by the manufacturer. The connectors are attached to the PCB with this clip, which locks into the drillholes on the PCB (max PCB thickness = 1,6 mm. Since the clips can also be soldered, plated-through PCB holes are recommended in such applications.
Size TE160: Size TE160 female connectors are fitted with a locating strip. This plastic component is attached to the extended mounting flanges and serves to guide the pins accurately.
The extended mounting flanges have two mounting holes at a pitch of 5,08 mm. The length of the mounting flanges provides improved support for the connector on the PCB.
