Printed circuit board design software vendor, Mentor Graphics, has established a joint marketing agreement with PCBstandards.com, a leading supplier of CAD libraries and library tools, to make the PCBstandards.com library available for use with Mentor Graphics PADS product line.
The library contains all of the land patterns found in the IPC-SM-782 specification, in the PADS PowerPCB format. The library with footprints (decals) and documentation is vital to determining compliance to corporate standards. This represents an excellent value for the PADS product users requiring a starter library of PCB component shapes built according to IPC standards, which would otherwise take much time to construct and document.
"Creation of footprints is a tedious and time consuming process," said David Wiens, director of PADS marketing, Mentor Graphics. "Utilising pre-built footprints created to a known standard will save the designer a tremendous amount of time. This agreement illustrates Mentor's investment in continuing to provide designers with the tools to enhance their productivity."
This collaboration appeals to a broad spectrum of designers, ranging from single engineers of small design shops to design service groups or advanced engineering groups creating prototypes within large corporations. Designers and engineers will benefit from the improved stability and productivity obtained by utilising part footprints provided by PCBStandards, which were constructed to an industry-accepted standard.
