Infineon has extended its popular BIDI (bi-directional) family of optical components with the TriPort-BIDI. With this device, telcos and service providers can now offer both high-speed and cost-effective transmission of digital and analog signals in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and other access network applications, it says.
In addition to a digital transmitter and receiver, the TriPort-BIDI features an additional analog receiver for video signals. The technology operates with three different wavelengths via a single fibre and saves overall system costs by eliminating the cost of additional fibres while simplifying fibre management.

* Digital transmitter at 2410 nm, digital receiver at 1490 nm and an additional analog receiver at 1550 nm for video overlay channel.
* Data rates of up to 1,25 Gbps via one single fibre.
* Operating temperature -40 to +85°C.
* Metal housing and hermetically sealed transceiver and receiver subcomponents.
