USB JTAG emulator has remote Ethernet capability
10 March 2004
Computer/Embedded Technology
EWA Technologies' division, Blackhawk, offers its USB 2.0 JTAG with remote Ethernet capability. The remote Ethernet facility adds greater flexibility and usefulness for the developer in allowing them to access target hardware across a network and from computers that do not support USB (eg, Windows NT v4.0).
The Blackhawk USB JTAG emulator supports high-speed USB 2.0 controllers (480 Mbps), as well as low voltage devices (1 to 5 V), and is tightly packaged in a pod the size of a credit card (89 x 51 x 15 mm).
The remote Ethernet add-on runs as a service on Windows 2000/XP platforms, which allows access from any host OS supported by TI's Code Composer Studio integrated development environment (IDE), provided each machine is connected to the network. The computer running the remote Ethernet service is not required to have the IDE installed or running, only the USB device drivers supplied for the emulator. This solution is a simple way to share development hardware across multiple developers in different locations.
