Micro-switches resist flux damage

10 March 2004 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Cost-effective sub-miniature microswitches introduced by Omron feature superior resistance to flux damage for ease of assembly. Targeted at office and consumer electronics as well as industrial automation, the Omron SS-P subminiature microswitches feature an insert moulded case, which brings increased flux resistance.

Pin-compatible with Omron's established SS range, these microswitches are based on a simple construction with a single leaf spring, allowing them to be marketed competitively. Omron is offering the SS-P range with pin-plunger, hinge lever or roller-lever actuation. All styles are available with PCB, solder or quick connect terminals. Whilst the standard switch is rated at 3 A, 125 V, a microload version is available suitable for switching as little as 0,1 A.

The new SS-P switch complements Omron's existing SS and D3V ranges of microswitches. The standard SS switch features a two split spring construction, extending service life to over 30 million operations. This switch is offered in a range of styles and specifications, including low or high operating force.
