BTInternational has introduced the Furtif AMX non-contact safety switch, which it says is the first standalone, non-contact coded gate switch for machinery. The switch is designed with two independent, interactive coded electronic systems. If one system is defective or is compromised, the module will shut down in a fail-safe mode.
The unit is self-contained and features internal, automatic failure monitoring. This method of failure detection consists of self-monitoring the closure of one of the contacts of the safety line. Other features include a compact size, two-screw mounting, and high IP ratings.
In operation, if a door or guard to the protected equipment is opened or if the system fails, the change in state is detected by an LED status indicator that gives visual confirmation of the unit's operational state. Machine restart is prevented until the open door or cover is closed or the system failure rectified.
