A line of compact slide switches from Tyco Electronics are available in SMT or through-hole versions. These Alcoswitch brand slide switches can be ordered unsealed or with an IP67 environmental sealing rating. The compact size is accentuated by double pole capability in a single pole body. They can be used in applications from point-of-sale terminals to building controls and have additional use in microphones, industrial controls, and medical equipment.
The slide switches employ PCB retention features and a robust actuator for reliable, repeatable mechanical performance up to 10 000 cycles. The high reliability contact system has a break-before-make design.
The contacts in Alcoswitch slide switches are rated for 0,4 VA at 20 V d.c. with an initial contact resistance of less than 50 mΩ. Actuation force ranges from 70 to 500 g. The contacts are phosphor bronze with gold over nickel plating. Terminals are tin-lead over nickel-plated phosphor bronze. Housing, actuator, and plunger are UL94V-0 glass-filled thermoplastic.
