Switch offers flexibility in height

10 March 2004 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Varimec is a switch line from Mec that offers flexibility of height adjustment by providing a double level of height variability in the same cap. This cap is made with a unique manufacturing technique. The tooling uses a design concept that allows both the cap height above the panel and the height of the section under the recess to be adjusted. A recess is provided that fixes the cap under the front panel. This means the designer can order any height above the panel between 2,4 and 6,4 mm and at the same time set the height from the PCB to the front panel from 0 to 8 mm. This flexibility ensures an aesthetically pleasing and highly practical front panel design while catering for a wide range of PCB mounted components.

Caps in the Varimec range can be round or square and are available in various sizes 5,2-7,8-11,6 mm and in five different colours: blue-grey-yellow-red-black. The cap material is polyamide and compatible with surface mounting process temperatures. They are easy to mount and are secured for safe positioning by three location pins.
