The range of FL MC industrial Ethernet media converters from Phoenix Contact, designed specially for control cabinets and boxes, offers high interference immunity in 10/100 BASE-T networks as it implements fibre-optic technology. Special features are the space-saving 22,5 mm component width and EN rail mounting.
At the same time, the product range includes solutions for 10 and 100 Mbps, depending on the required optical range and transfer bandwidth. Distances up to 50 m are ideally implemented with low-cost and easy-to-handle polymer fibre technology. For ranges up to 200 m, 200/230 µm HCS fibre, which is easy-to-assemble, comes into use. If greater distances are required or if the intention is to use an existing fibre-optic installation, device versions are available that meet the FL standard for 10 Mbps with 850 nm technology and the FX standard for 100 Mbps in 1300 nm technology. With these, distances of up to 10 km can be achieved over multimode glass fibre and 36 km over single-mode glass fibre.
The media converters are equipped with a link monitoring system that separately monitors the availability of the cable link and the connected devices for TP and fibre-optic ports. Devices can be operated both as standalone units and in a modular system network. Here the power supply can come either from the integrated backplane in the base of the housing or separately with 24 V d.c. via pluggable screw terminals.
