Single IC dual output, 2-phase DC-DC
24 March 2004
Power Electronics / Power Management
International Rectifier has introduced dual output, two-phase DC-DC power blocks in single BGA packages for synchronous buck applications. The devices help simplify design, reduce size and streamline computing and telecoms power system time-to-market. Modern telecom and networking systems have as many as six voltage rails. The iPOWIR iP1201 and iP1202 can supply two independent voltage rails in a single device. The iP1201 covers input bus voltages from 3 to 5,5 V, the iP1202 from 5,5 to 13,2 V - with outputs 0,8 V to 5 V. They have no de-rating requirements up to 90°C and are optimised for synchronous buck applications requiring up to 15 A dual output or 30 A single output with interleaved input. They feature full-function PWM control and protection. Only an output inductor, input and output capacitors per channel and a few external components are required for a complete dual output synchronous buck power supply.
