Hitachi has announced a new high performance TFT-LCD for industrial applications. The 12,1" SVGA colour TFT display has a high brightness and long lifetime replaceable backlight, a lifetime of 50 000 hours and an operating temperature range of 0 to 50°C. It is designed for a wide range of applications including ATM, point-of-information, point-of-sale and industrial control terminals. The SVGA display, TX31D30VC1CAA, has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and a brightness of 300 cd/m2. It operates from a single +3,3V supply, has a contrast ratio of 350:1 and is capable of displaying 262 000 colours according to Hitachi.
A range of supporting hardware is available, including inverters, cables, application notes and evaluation tools. The industry-standard CMOS interface ensures compatibility with a range of widely available third party interface solutions. Hitachi says the backlighting system can be easily replaced on-site in a matter of seconds, ensuring minimal maintenance.
