X2 interference suppression film capacitors

21 April 2004 Passive Components Opto-Electronics

Vishay BCcomponents has released a new series of compact, lead (Pb)-free electromagnetic interference suppression film capacitors that combine a wide range of capacitance values with pitch sizes down to 7,5 mm. Suited for filters, power supplies, and mains applications, capacitors in the 339 X2 series have IEC 60384-14 (2nd edition) and EN 132400 approvals for X2 suppression.

The 339 X2 series offers capacitance values ranging from 0,001 µF to 4,7 µF with tolerances rated at either ±10% or ±20%. Case sizes at many capacitance values are smaller than those of previously-available devices, while the height of 339 X2 series capacitors with values greater than 100 nF is lowered by between 1 and 2 mm. As a result, the capacitors will be especially useful in applications where board space is limited and mounting height is restricted. Lead pitch for the capacitors ranges from 7,5 to 27,5 mm.

Capacitors in the 339 X2 series are constructed using a low inductive wound cell of metallised polypropylene film potted in a flame-retardant case (UL94V-O rated). Maximum operating temperature is 105°C. All the new devices have a rated voltage of 275 V a.c. at 50/60 Hz, and 630 V d.c.
