NI's Programmable Automation Controller seminar highly successful

News
National Instruments (NI) South Africa recently hosted a PAC (programmable automation controller) seminar in Midrand. Attracting several representatives from some of the leading South African companies in the industrial engineering community, NI was elated with the quality of the registrants and attendees, which it said exceeded its expectations.
The primary focus of the seminar was to educate industrial engineers about the next generation of industrial programmable controllers, that combine the form factor and ruggedness of a PLC with the software flexibility and functionality of the PC, and how it is now possible to create custom control applications that run reliably in harsh environments with the PAC.
A host of industry solutions were presented, including presentations and demonstrations on the functionality of the PAC, by building LabVIEW programs running on Compact FieldPoint to solve complex control problems. For example: the multiloop PID-based temperature control; the complete development of advanced applications with LabVIEW; the industrial ruggedness of Compact FieldPoint when exposed to extreme shock and temperatures; the integration of custom embedded control, Web-enabled data logging and Web connectivity; and more.
"We are extremely pleased with the success of this event, it not only highlights the strong user base of virtual instrumentation in South Africa, but also shows that the local engineering industry is tracking this worldwide trend of moving to computer-based instrumentation" said Michael Hutton, branch manager of National Instruments.
National Instruments will be hosting more technical seminars during 2004. For more information contact National Instruments SA, 0800 203 199, [email protected], or see www.ni.com/southafrica
