Analog Devices has introduced DashDSP (Digital Control, Analog Precision with FlaSH Memory). According to the company this is the world's first embedded DSP controller with flash memory in industry standard 28-pin SOIC and PDIP packages. DashDSP is designed for simplicity, allowing customers to migrate their micro- controller designs to the power of digital signal processing (DSP).

ADI says the DashDSP family integrates a 20 MIPS DSP, high-speed flash memory, an analog-to-digital converter system including precision voltage reference, and a serial communications port, all in a low-cost, easy-to-use 28-pin package.

DashDSP-for motor control (the first in the family) also integrates high performance motor specific peripherals designed for specific motor types and applications.
