Fully digital high power amplifier reference design

Said to be the industry's first high power, fully digital Class-D amplifier solution, Philips Semiconductors' new reference design integrates advanced pulse width modulation (PWM) technology to help customers quickly implement high performance slim line solution.

The plug-and-play reference design based on Philips' TDA8939TH can deliver 140 W r.m.s. output in a single package. New advanced applications such as home theatre in a box, DVD receivers and A/V receivers are demanding solutions that have the features required for next-generation connected consumer electronics devices. Accordingly, the TDA8939TH offers a fully digital amplifier solution, robust performance at high power and a small form factor. The integrated PWM controller eliminates the need for additional sound processing chips.

In addition the amplifier chip provides superior timing accuracy and high EMC performance. It also provides customers with the flexibility to select various output power levels, with the maximum up to 140 W in one channel.
