The performance of components used as DC-DC converters and other similar electronic components is continuously increasing. Improvements in efficiency with respect to circuitry and semiconductor technology leads to higher integration depths and consequently to greater thermal problems. The specific geometry of the cases and their methods of fastening are crucial for the design of these heatsinks which are adapted for different performance levels and which have to ensure that heat is dissipated.
Fischer Elektronik has developed a line of heatsinks which is especially suitable for this type of component and which carries off heat efficiently. At the same time, these heatsinks provide correct mechanical fastening.
The design of the heatsinks and the arrangement of the fins is such that heat is efficiently dissipated by free convection, irrespective of whether the heatsink is installed horizontally or vertically.
Due to the special pin-type fins, any existing omnidirectional air movements, eg, generated by fan motors in the control cubicle or in the housing, can be used to support the cooling of the components.
