Integrated audio power amplifier reduces board space required

ON Semiconductor says that its NCP2809 device is a cost-effective stereo audio amplifier that improves sound quality and reduces part count in space-restricted wireless applications such as cellphones and portable music and game players.

Because the NCP2809 delivers 135 mW to a 16 Ω load from a 2,5 V to 5,5 V Li-ion battery supply, it is ideal for low power portable audio equipment. Ultra-low shutdown current and sleep mode features optimise power consumption for extended battery life. Superior power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and a virtual ground between the stereo speakers eliminates the need for bulky DC-blocking output capacitors. Harmonic distortion (THD+N) is 0,01%, which provides high-quality audio for wireless headset applications. The device is offered with either an adjustable or fixed 0 decibel (dB) gain depending on the specific needs of the designer.

The NCP2809 comes in Micro-10 package in two different options (adjustable or fixed 0 dB gain).
