PC-based temperature and humidity measurement

2 June 2004 Test & Measurement

Pico has developed a range of PC-based temperature and humidity converters it claims are easy to use. The units simply connect to the serial port of a PC and require no power supply. The TC-08, PT-104, and TH-03 all measure temperature using external sensors. The RH-02 uses dual external probe and cable to measure temperature and humidity.

All three products are supplied with PicoLog data logging software, which can collect data at rates from one sample per second to one per hour and up to a million samples can be recorded. Data can be displayed in graphical or spreadsheet format, both during and after data collection.

The TC-08 is an 8-channel thermocouple to PC interface. It can measure the full range of temperatures from -270ºC to +1800°C and works with all popular thermocouple types. There is also a 60 mV range that can be used for other types of sensor. Up to nine TC-08 units can be connected to a single PC at once, providing up to 72 channels.

The TC-08 software provides all the calculations necessary for cold junction compensation and for thermocouple curve normalisation. Software drivers are supplied for the users who wish to write their own software.
