Cases shaped for wearing on the body

16 June 2004 Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services

The OKW's Ergo-Case is characterised by its convex design, which follows the curves of the body. This range of cases can also be used as handheld, desktop and wall-mounted cases. The main fields of application are mobile data collection and transmission. The M and L versions are supplemented by a smaller S version.

The external dimension, the S version is 80 x 96 x 32 mm (L x W x H), and it consists of a bottom part and a top part. A 12 mm higher version is available for individual installation configurations. To link up the individual parts, they are interlocked at the rear and secured on the front side by means of two screws. This has the advantage that the fastening is outside the field of vision of the viewer, but still remains accessible.

The standard colours off-white (RAL 9002) and black (RAL 9005) have been chosen to match the larger versions. The rounded operating panel in the upper part represents the area for the input, read-off and control of the terminal units. This surface is recessed by 1,0 mm and offers optimum protection for membrane keyboards.

The Ergo-Case mobile system uses the additive sealing kit to comply with protection class IP 54, and is produced from high-quality ABS (UL 94 HB). The brackets required for 2 x 1,5 V AAA batteries are integrated in the lower part. For reliable storage of the devices, or for permanent wall mounting, an innovative wall bracket is an accessory. A strap eyelet attachment is also available. Webbing belts as well as thin belts can quickly threaded into these two devices to allow them to be worn comfortably on the body.
