RF Monolithics (RFM) has introduced a surface-mount surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) filter and resonator at 868,35 MHz and 868,95 MHz with an accompanying 10,7 MHz LO resonator for use in Europe. The 868-870 MHz frequency band is newly released in Europe by the ETSI. The RF1336B SAW filter (868,35 MHz) is a surface-mount, metal-lid, ceramic base package with a 8,71 x 6,04 mm footprint. The RO2164A (868,35 MHz) SAW resonator is a surface-mount, ceramic-lid, ceramic base package with a 5,97 x 3,94 mm footprint.
Market segments for these resonators include automotive, commercial, utilities, industrial, consumer and government. Included in these segments are applications such as tyre pressure monitoring systems, wireless gas pumps, remote traffic information systems, wireless thermostats, remote water meter reading, bar code reading, remote-keyless entry for home and car, and wireless headphones.
RFM has received enormous customer interest in its new 868 MHz SMR and filter products, especially in Germany, states the company. It adds that the excellent ±75 kHz tolerance at this frequency is very desirable for most applications.
