PCB assembly manufacturer provides complete range of services

28 July 2004 News

Located in South Africa's silicon valley, Centurion in Gauteng, Phahama Systems Development (PSD) is a PCB assembly manufacturer that can provide a full range of services from engineering development and prototyping, to systems assembly. PSD offers a complete solution, from component procurement to surface mount and conventional assembly, as well as right on to final assembly and test.

"As a black economic empowerment company, PSD firmly believes in actively providing personal growth opportunities to those who have had limited opportunities before - especially those who demonstrate potential and keenness," says technical manager Hosia Matlou.

"PSD's mission is to provide its customers with products and services that will exceed their expectations in quality, delivery and price. We achieve this by following three key points: using high calibre engineering and manufacturing support teams; ensuring that the production team works closely with the engineering and software departments; and producing high quality electronic assemblies that meet international IPC standards," he says.

PSD generally performs the design, engineering services, prototyping and manufacture of products and its facilities allow it to do small to medium production runs with quick turnarounds. The company's assembly and manufacturing capabilities for electronics and electro-mechanical products include low volume/high mix production semi-automatic and labour-intensive manufacturing processes. The electronics manufacturing and assembly services include the production of PCB assemblies and electronic sub-assemblies as well as the assembly of final systems packages. PSD also uses semi-automated equipment and manual assembly for some of its products.

PSD has frequent and intense customer interface and undertakes a high number of rapid performance cycles where it plans, builds and ships. PSD says that customers find it profitable for them to rather focus on the core functions of their products and business and to hand over the electronic manufacturing effort to PSD.

The company manufactures a wide range of state-of-the-art products for applications in the railway, communications and military end markets. The range of products and services provided include:

* Circuit and product design.

* PCB design.

* Complete turnkey manufacturing solutions.

* Parts procurement.

* PCB and product assembly.

* In-circuit and functional test.

* Latest and cost-effective assembly techniques.

* Assembly, test, quality control.

* Testing and rework services.

* Population of single- and double-sided and complex multilayer boards.

* Low volume to medium volume throughput.

* Assembly of SMT and through-hole components.

"PSD is serious about quality. We test 100% of our products and have a full time inspection force to assure that we are producing the quality our customers expect. We consistently achieve high quality yields of our products and strive to provide timely and responsive deliveries," concludes Matlou.
