DEK VectorGuard stencils enhance the company's Vector frame concept to achieve even easier handling, management, storage and changeover. Frame mounted foils are easier to store and manage than standard, permanently-mounted stencils, says DEK and the foils can be kept in a convenient and space-efficient hanging filing system. There is also no need to return each frame to the stencil supplier for credit and recycling. Since the foil is automatically tensioned every time, immediately before use, this ensures an optimal gasket seal against the board and efficient stencil-board separation after each cycle.
The VectorGuard now achieves increased rigidity and ease of use by surrounding the foil with a purpose-designed aluminium extrusion. Operators can thus handle and load the stencils easily and safely even if not wearing gloves. Mounting is also easier compared to the first-generation Vector frame system, requiring no alignment of teeth, slots or holes. There is no loading base, and no need for special care to align the foil; everything is handled automatically. When fitting to the machine, little physical effort, and virtually negligible training is required, enabling faster, safer, and more accurate changeovers says DEK.
VectorGuard stencils are available in standard thicknesses to meet the majority of SMT assembly requirements, with special-gauge foils available on request. They are compatible with DEK screen printing platforms including the semi-automatic DEK248, and also with the majority of third-party machines.
