Sub-1 ppm TCVCXO suitable for lead-free soldering

28 July 2004 Electronics Technology Information Security

C-MAC MicroTechnology's CFPT-125 series, a range of low-cost 7 x 5 mm SMD temperature-compensated voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (TCVCXO), features a standard frequency stability of ±0,9 ppm over the temperature range of -20 to +70°C.

The CFPT-125 is designed to withstand a peak reflow soldering temperature of 260°C for 10 seconds, making it compatible with lead-free soldering processes. The crystal resonator used within the TCVCXO is packaged in a separate, hermetically-sealed container. This virtually eliminates contamination keeping ageing effects to a minimum.

This customer-driven design provides HCMOS output, operates from a 3,3 V supply and draws typically 3 mA - suited for low-power applications. The oscillator frequency is adjustable by means of an external control voltage allowing it to be calibrated to nominal after assembly. Stock standard frequencies are 10, 12,8, 13,0, 14,4, 16,32,16,384, 19,44, 20,0, 26,0, 32,768, 40,0 MHz, with additional frequencies being developed. This precision clock source is intended for a variety of next-generation communication and industrial applications, and test and measurement equipment. The CFPT-125 measures only 7 x 5 x 2 mm, making for compact solutions.
