Advanced telecom/datacom analyser

25 August 2004 Test & Measurement

Trend Communications' Victor Plus is a complete test and measurement instrument for 2 Mbps balanced/unbalanced, nx64 Kbps, co-directional and data circuits. The instrument provides DTE, DCE emulation and in-service monitoring over V.11, V.24, V;35 and V.36 with control of DTE/DCE exchange circuits. All events are shown as time plots and histograms.

The instrument is said to be easy to use and incorporates a touchscreen with a user-friendly graphical interface, making it easy to navigate and configure. Results are easily accessed and displayed, and the channel map provides a complete overview of channel occupation and signal status.

Victor Plus is flexible and is supplied with a number of interfaces, an independent generator and analyser, a 'drop and insert' on any interface feature, and through mode and high impedance mode status. With a -43 dB sensitivity, Victor Plus allows the user to analyse cross-connects, synchronous and asynchronous data interfaces, and any type of digital, analog or data mux/demux, including X.50 networks.

A variety of functions are offered, including auto-configuration, measurement continuation even after a power failure, storing of results and configurations, printing and downloading to a PC, remote control and multilingual interface. The instrument has a mass of 2 kg and a battery life of up to 11h.
