The MIC2291 is an LED driver from Micrel with over 1 A of input switch current capability. This is 60% more power capability than the company's MIC2287, allowing the MIC2291 to drive higher current LEDs such as for photo-flash applications and bigger LCD panels.
The MIC2291 is available in Thin SOT23-5L and 2 x 2 mm MLF packaging options. The MLF options feature output over-voltage protection to protect the IC and external components in case of fault conditions. With a high power capability in a small footprint, the device offers an ideal solution for driving three to eight high current LEDs in series. Pb-free options are available.
